How to use

Apply to a cotton pad and sweep over cleansed face morning and/or evening as directed during your consultation. Do not rinse. Allow to absorb fully before applying serum and moisturizer. Always use SPF 50 the following morning without exception — glycolic and lactic acid significantly increase sun sensitivity. Do not use on broken or irritated skin.

Why does this toner combine glycolic and lactic acid instead of using just one?

Glycolic and lactic acid work on slightly different mechanisms and depths. Glycolic — the smallest AHA — penetrates deepest and works most aggressively on texture and pore clarity. Lactic — slightly larger — works more on the surface and uniquely also hydrates while it exfoliates. Together they provide more comprehensive exfoliation than either alone, while the lactic acid's hydrating property offsets some of the drying tendency of the glycolic. The result is brighter, smoother skin with less dryness than a pure glycolic toner at the same strength.

Can I use this toner every day?

Possibly — but your consultation will confirm the right frequency for your skin. Some clients use this daily with no issues; others do better with every other day to allow skin to recover between uses. Signs you're over-exfoliating include persistent redness, tightness, increased sensitivity, or a shiny tight look to the skin. If you experience any of these, reduce frequency and contact me to adjust your protocol.

Why is SPF non-negotiable with this toner?

Glycolic and lactic acid accelerate cell turnover, bringing newer, more sun-sensitive cells to the surface. UV exposure on exfoliated skin causes significantly more damage than on unexpoliated skin — including worsening the hyperpigmentation you're trying to fade. Using acids without daily SPF 50 doesn't just slow your results, it can actively make dark spots worse. No SPF, no acids. That's the rule.

How does this compare to the Sal-C Toner?

The Glycolic-Lactic Toner is primarily a resurfacing and brightening toner using AHAs — best for texture improvement, skin smoothing, and general brightening. The Sal-C Toner is primarily a clearing and pore-focused toner using salicylic acid alongside vitamin C and niacinamide — best for active acne management and fading post-acne marks.
