What is a Peel?
The word peel sounds ominous. Like you are going to peel your face off. But nothing could be further from the truth. The name, "PEEL" is a generic term.
Peels Are:
- A method of mild to intense exfoliating using targeted blends of acids, chemicals and enzymes to correct, reduce pigmentation, signs of aging, acne, and post-acne scars.
- Safe when done by a professional,
- Use poly (more than one) types of acids, enzymes or chemicals,
- Chosen by a professional to achieve specific results.
PERSONAL NOTE: I love peels and have been performing them (+ doing them on my own skin them for decades.)
Why Peels are amazing:
- Nothing controls melasma (hormone induced pigment) or hyperpigmentation (sun-induced pigment) better.
- They are low-risk, and you can go custom.
- We now know that using low percentages of multiple acids gives a better outcome with less irritation than a single acid at a higher strength.
- The right peel can end acne and soften the scars that come with it.
- Your skin-care products perform better after a peel because there are no dead cells impeding their penetration.
- Can be done year-round.

That being said, most peels require a prep time to prevent unwanted outcomes, with a few exceptions (see below). In our business, we call this "peel prep" and it includes using specific ingredients/products to prepare the skin for peeling.

THE LIRA CRAFT PEEL I $185
Includes post-care kit and Lira Recovery Balm. This peel mixes 3 different peels and utilizes a precise protocol to make an entirely unique peel. Clients an either choose between the hydrating peel or tightening peel.
These peels are unique and a “cocktail” between a variety of different peels put together to form a unique peel that emphasizes either correction, maintenance or prevention.
*PCA SKIN SENSI PEEL | 30 MIN
The gentlest of our peels, this is a quick short cut to better skin. Super gentle formula of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and lactic acid (which sound intense but are very safe and mild) with big impact. Perfect for rosacea clients to even out skin tone and rid skin of redness. One peel can make a difference and a series of peels, even better.
The PCA Sensi peel is a stand alone peel that requires no pre-treating.* Most other peels require prep to avoid any side effects like rebound hyper pigmentation, etc.
The actual service is short: cleanse, prep and peel, with most of the results coming from the duration the peel stays on the skin; working from the inside, out.
You will leave with peel and SPF on and no one even will know you have it on. You will leave glow-y and fresh.
Peel stays on for 6-8 hours and we advise you to avoid any heat-inducing activities for the next 24 hours. Most clients go to sleep with it on. There is very little downtime and no true peeling with this peel. If there is dead skin to come off, it does so in light flaking after 3-4 days, similar to that of a light sunburn. Not for anyone allergic to aspirin and must discontinue use of retinol or other acids prior to service.
