Why every Lira Clinical product works differently

Every Lira Clinical formula is built around three pillars: peptides that signal skin to produce collagen and renew itself, plant stem cells that protect skin's own cellular longevity at a genetic level, and probiotics that balance the skin microbiome for resilient, healthy skin. These three elements work together in every product — which is why results compound over time and why Lira Clinical products perform best when used as a system.

Best for

All skin types — particularly clients going through periods of dryness, seasonal dehydration, post-treatment recovery, or anyone wanting a concentrated vitamin C and brightening treatment that also delivers serious hydration. Excellent for LA clients dealing with the city's dry, polluted air year-round.

How to use

Apply 2-4 drops to clean skin morning and/or evening before moisturizer. Press gently into skin — do not rub. Allow to absorb for 30-60 seconds before layering. For maximum hydration, apply to slightly damp skin. Always use SPF 50 in the morning — vitamin C increases sun sensitivity and is most effective when followed by SPF protection.

Jasmine's note

“Concentrated hydration treatments are different from everyday moisturizers — they flood the skin with moisture on a level that regular products can't. I recommend this as a treatment step for clients going through periods of dryness, after aggressive treatments, or during winter when skin needs extra support. What makes the BIO Hydra C stand out from other hydrating serums is the vitamin C layering — four different forms working at different depths — alongside those plant stem cells. You're getting serious hydration AND serious antioxidant protection in one step. In Los Angeles where our air quality and dry conditions constantly pull moisture from the skin, this serum is one of the most practical things I carry.”

Key ingredients

  • Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate — the most stable and deeply penetrating form of vitamin C; oil-soluble so it crosses the skin barrier effectively; brightens, protects against free radicals and blue light, supports collagen production
  • Ascorbyl Palmitate — fat-soluble vitamin C ester that penetrates the lipid layer of the skin; provides sustained antioxidant protection with high stability
  • Ascorbic Acid — the purest, most bioactive form of vitamin C; works at the skin surface for immediate antioxidant and brightening action
  • Tocopheryl Acetate & Tocopherol (Vitamin E) — two forms of vitamin E that work synergistically with vitamin C; vitamin C and E together provide significantly greater antioxidant protection than either alone
  • Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract (Swiss Apple Stem Cells) — from a rare Swiss apple variety with documented longevity; protects skin stem cells from aging and UV damage
  • Rhododendron Ferrugineum Leaf Cell Culture Extract (Alpine Rose Stem Cells) — high-altitude plant adapted to extreme cold and UV; protects skin's own stem cells and supports regeneration
  • Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem Cell Culture (Edelweiss Stem Cells) — one of the most UV-resistant plants on earth; exceptional antioxidant protection and skin resilience
  • Haberlea Rhodopensis Leaf Extract — the "resurrection plant" — a botanical that survives complete desiccation and fully revives with water; its extract protects skin cells from dehydration stress and oxidative damage at a level few botanicals can match; rare and remarkable
  • Lactobacillus/Olive Leaf Ferment Extract — probiotic ferment that balances the skin microbiome; the olive leaf component adds natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory support
  • Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract — also known as cogon grass; its root survives extreme drought by concentrating potassium ions that draw water into cells; applied topically it acts as a powerful humectant that draws and retains moisture deep in the skin
  • Pistacia Lentiscus (Mastic) Gum (MASQ-tech™) — Lira Clinical's exclusive terpene-rich complex; neutralizes free radicals, prevents PIH, minimizes pore appearance
  • Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer — cross-linked form of hyaluronic acid that forms a moisture-retaining film on the skin surface; longer-lasting hydration than standard HA
  • Yeast Polysaccharides & Yeast Extract — beta-glucan rich ferments that provide deep hydration and energize skin cells
  • Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract — rich in betalains with potent antioxidant and brightening properties; also contains betaine, a natural humectant
  • Morus Alba (Mulberry) Leaf Extract — natural tyrosinase inhibitor for brightening and fading uneven tone
  • Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Licorice Root) — calms redness and provides additional brightening
  • Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice — organic aloe base; soothes, calms, and provides immediate surface hydration throughout the formula
  • Isomalt — sugar-derived humectant that draws moisture into the skin and helps maintain hydration throughout the day

Complete your routine

BIO Hydra C Serum is your concentrated treatment step — layer it as part of this sequence:

  • Cleanse first with: Face Reality Barrier Balance Creamy Cleanser or Lira Clinical BIO Enzyme Cleanser
  • Apply this serum: 2-4 drops on slightly damp skin, press gently, allow to absorb
  • Seal with moisturizer: Lira Clinical BIO Lift Creme for anti-aging focus, BIO Caviar Creme for maximum nourishment, or Face Reality Barrier Care Gel Cream for barrier repair
  • Post-treatment recovery: Use this serum for 3-5 days after a peel or professional facial to accelerate recovery and prevent dehydration during healing
  • Morning protocol: Vitamin C serum + SPF is the gold-standard morning combination — follow with Lira Clinical SPF EliōDrops 30 for a complete antioxidant + UV protection shield
  • Evening pairing: Alternate with Lira Clinical PRO Retinal-Plus Treatment Cream — vitamin C in the AM, retinaldehyde at night for a comprehensive anti-aging protocol
  • Brightening boost: Face Reality GlowTone Corrective Serum on evenings when brightening is the primary focus — the two serums target hyperpigmentation from completely different pathways

Frequently asked questions

Why does this serum have four forms of vitamin C?

Each form of vitamin C has different solubility, stability, and penetration characteristics. Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is oil-soluble and penetrates deepest. Ascorbyl Palmitate is fat-soluble and works in the lipid layer. Ascorbic Acid is the most bioactive form at the surface. Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E) works synergistically with all three. Using multiple forms provides antioxidant and brightening protection at every depth of the skin — something a single-form vitamin C serum can't achieve.

What is Haberlea Rhodopensis and why is it remarkable?

Haberlea Rhodopensis is a rare Balkan plant known as the "resurrection plant" — it can lose up to 90% of its water content, appear completely dead, and fully revive when rehydrated. The mechanisms it uses to survive this extreme dehydration stress — protecting cellular membranes, preventing oxidative damage, maintaining DNA integrity — translate into remarkable skin benefits when applied topically. It's one of the most extreme stress-adaptation botanicals in skincare and is rarely found outside professional-grade formulas.

How is this different from a standard vitamin C serum?

A standard vitamin C serum typically has one form of ascorbic acid in a simple base. This formula has four forms of vitamin C, three plant stem cell extracts, a probiotic ferment, the resurrection plant extract, MASQ-tech™, two forms of hyaluronic acid, and a comprehensive botanical brightening complex. The hydration profile alone — organic aloe, imperata cylindrica, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, isomalt, yeast polysaccharides — puts it in a completely different category from a standard C serum.

Can I use this if I have sensitive or reactive skin?

Yes — the organic aloe base, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, and the olive leaf ferment make this formula considerably more soothing than standard vitamin C serums, which are often formulated at a low pH that can irritate sensitive skin. The vitamin C forms used here — particularly tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate — are significantly gentler than pure ascorbic acid serums. If you have very reactive skin, patch test on the inside of your wrist first and introduce every other day before daily use.
