Cryo refers to cold therapy applied to the skin. The cooling sensation reduces heat and inflammation in the skin immediately on contact — constricting blood vessels to reduce redness, calming inflammatory responses, and temporarily tightening tissue for a visible firming effect. The cold also supports lymphatic drainage which reduces puffiness. For in-studio use I store this masque at cool temperatures for an enhanced effect. At home, keeping it in the refrigerator before use delivers the same benefit.
Can I use this masque after a professional treatment or peel?
Yes — this is specifically formulated for post-treatment recovery and is safe for use after CIT (microneedling), resurfacing treatments, and peels. The cooling effect calms the inflammation generated by professional treatments, the biosaccharide gum soothes reactive skin, and the peptide and botanical complex supports healing. I use it in-studio as the final step of more aggressive treatments. At home, apply it the evening of or the day after your treatment.
How is this different from the MYSTIQ Lifting Masque?
Both masques firm and lift but they approach it differently. The Cryo Masque leads with cooling and calming — ideal for inflamed, sensitive, or post-treatment skin that needs gentle firming. The MYSTIQ Lifting Masque leads with deep firming actives for more intensive lifting results on skin that is ready for a more aggressive treatment. I use both in my studio and recommend alternating them week to week for clients focused on firming and lifting results.
How do I get the most out of this masque at home?
Three things: keep it in the fridge for enhanced cooling, use a jade roller over it during the treatment time, and apply it to clean dry skin at the end of the day when your skin is least reactive. The jade roller is genuinely important — the combination of the masque's active ingredients with the mechanical lymphatic drainage of the roller produces firming results that the masque alone can't match. Spend 5 minutes rolling upward and outward over the masque before rinsing.
