Best for

Dry, dehydrated, sensitive, post-treatment, and acne-prone skin needing intensive hydration and calming. The mask I apply in-studio after peels and more aggressive facial treatments — and send clients home with for the days immediately following. Also excellent as a weekly hydration boost for anyone whose skin feels chronically depleted or reactive.

How to use

Apply a generous layer to clean skin. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Remove with cool water. Use once or twice weekly, or more frequently post-treatment as directed. Follow with serum and moisturizer to seal in the hydration. Can be used the day after a peel or treatment — do not use on broken or actively peeling skin.

It shortens redness and recovery time significantly in my experience. The blue agave extract is what sets this apart from standard hydrating masks — it forms a moisture-locking film on the skin that keeps hydration in place long after the mask is removed. Combined with the beta-glucan and L-form hyaluronic acid, you have three different hydration mechanisms working together at the same time. Can I use this mask immediately after a peel or in-studio treatment?

Yes — and this is exactly what it's designed for. I use it in-studio as the final step of peels and more aggressive facials to calm redness, restore hydration, and speed up recovery. At home, use it the evening of your treatment and for the 2-3 days following while skin is in recovery mode. Do not use it on actively peeling or broken skin — wait until the outer skin is intact before applying.

What makes blue agave extract special in a hydrating mask?

Blue agave is rich in fructans — long-chain sugars that form a moisture-retaining film on the skin's surface and bind water molecules, keeping them from evaporating. This is different from how hyaluronic acid hydrates (which attracts water from the environment) — the agave literally seals moisture in place. The combination of beta-glucan pulling water in, hyaluronic acid attracting water, and agave sealing it there creates a three-mechanism hydration system that lasts significantly longer than single-ingredient hydrating masks.

Is this mask safe for acne-prone skin?

Yes — the totarol in this formula is specifically what makes a deeply hydrating mask safe for acne-prone skin. It provides natural antimicrobial action against acne-causing bacteria, so the mask hydrates and calms without creating an environment where bacteria can thrive. The squalane and jojoba esters are non-comedogenic. I use this on acne clients regularly — hydration is not the enemy of clear skin.

How does this differ from the Soothing Clay Mask?

They are designed for completely opposite purposes and work best as a weekly rotation. The Soothing Clay Mask draws out — it purifies pores, absorbs oil, and detoxifies congested skin. The Hydracalm Mask puts back — it restores hydration, calms inflammation, and supports barrier recovery. One week clay for purification, the following week Hydracalm for restoration. Together they cover both sides of what skin needs to stay balanced and healthy.
