Lira Clinical PRO Lite Serum — multi-pathway brightening serum for hyperpigmentation, PIH, PIE, and rosacea

Available in: 0.5 oz (retail) | 2 oz (professional size) | 76 five-star reviews — 100% recommend

The Sister Serum Protocol

Two serums. Two mechanisms. One comprehensive brightening system.

☀ PRO Lite Serum — Morning

Prevents new pigment from forming. Eight brightening actives block melanin production pathways before dark spots can develop. Your daily defense.

☾ PRO Brite-Plus Serum — Evening

Breaks up existing pigment and melasma. More intensive brightening actives work overnight to fade what is already there.

What it does for your skin

A concentrated multi-pathway brightening serum combining eight distinct brightening and anti-inflammatory actives — hexylresorcinol, arbutin, kojic acid, azelaic acid, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Chromabright® (Sea Fennel Stem Cells), amla fruit extract, and licorice root — to address hyperpigmentation from every angle simultaneously. One of the most comprehensively formulated brightening serums available at this price point, consistently rated the go-to serum for PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), PIE (post-inflammatory erythema), rosacea, and uneven skin tone by estheticians who use it daily on clients.

Key benefits

  • Eight brightening actives target melanin from multiple pathways simultaneously
  • Hexylresorcinol — clinically shown to outperform kojic acid for dark spot reduction
  • Arbutin — potent tyrosinase inhibitor with minimal irritation risk
  • Sea Fennel (Crithmum Maritimum) Stem Cells — Chromabright® brightening peptide complex
  • Azelaic acid addresses both redness and melanin production — ideal for rosacea
  • Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate — stable vitamin C with proven antibacterial and brightening action
  • Bearberry, mulberry, and licorice provide botanical brightening support
  • MASQ-tech™ prevents post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Suitable for all skin types including sensitive and rosacea-prone
  • Interchangeable with PRO Brite-Plus Serum depending on intensity needed

Best for

All skin types dealing with hyperpigmentation, post-acne dark marks (PIH), post-inflammatory redness (PIE), rosacea, sun damage, or uneven skin tone. Particularly effective for clients with mild to moderate pigmentation who want a daily brightening serum that also calms inflammation. Works beautifully as a skin prep step before professional peels to accelerate and deepen results.

How to use

After cleansing, apply 1-2 pumps and massage into skin. Follow with your appropriate moisturizer or SPF. Can be used morning and/or evening. Always use SPF 50 in the morning — mandatory with any brightening serum. For best results use consistently for at least 8-12 weeks. Can be used interchangeably with the PRO Brite-Plus Serum depending on the level of correction needed.

Jasmine's note

“This is a MUST-HAVE for all my in-studio clients as a prep for their skin for treatment — it erases past damage and accelerates every professional treatment I do. I do not let clients skip this step.”

“This is my heavy-hitter for hyperpigmentation clients who need more than a basic brightening serum. The multi-pathway approach — targeting melanin production from several angles at once — is what makes it more effective than single-ingredient brighteners. Patience plus this serum = results. What I appreciate about the PRO Lite specifically is that it handles PIE (the red post-acne marks) just as well as it handles PIH (the brown ones) — which is rare in a brightening serum. Most products only address one. I use it as a pre-peel prep for clients with significant pigmentation and the results come in significantly faster than without it.”

Key ingredients

  • Hexylresorcinol — one of the most potent brightening ingredients available; inhibits both tyrosinase AND peroxidase in the melanin production pathway; clinical studies show it outperforms kojic acid at comparable concentrations for reducing hyperpigmentation
  • Arbutin — naturally derived tyrosinase inhibitor from bearberry; suppresses melanin production at the cellular level with an excellent safety and tolerability profile; one of the gold-standard brightening ingredients for sensitive skin
  • Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Callus Culture Filtrate (Chromabright®) — plant stem cell extract from sea fennel that acts as a natural brightening peptide; protects cells from UV-induced aging and reduces melanin synthesis at the gene expression level
  • Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C) — highly stable water-soluble vitamin C that converts to ascorbic acid on the skin; uniquely also has antibacterial properties against acne-causing bacteria, making it a dual brightening and clearing ingredient
  • Kojic Acid — natural tyrosinase inhibitor derived from fungi; works synergistically with hexylresorcinol for enhanced dark spot reduction
  • Azelaic Acid — dual-action ingredient that inhibits tyrosinase AND reduces the redness and inflammation of rosacea; the ingredient that makes this serum effective for PIE (post-inflammatory erythema/redness) as well as PIH
  • Phyllanthus Emblica (Amla/Indian Gooseberry) Fruit Extract — exceptionally rich in vitamin C; one of the most potent natural antioxidants and brighteners available; also anti-inflammatory and barrier-supportive
  • Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate — next-generation antioxidant that protects against oxidative stress and prevents the free radical damage that triggers melanin overproduction
  • Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi (Bearberry) Leaf Extract — natural source of arbutin; provides additional tyrosinase inhibition alongside the purified arbutin in the formula
  • Morus Alba (Mulberry) Leaf Extract — natural tyrosinase inhibitor; works on the same pathway as arbutin and bearberry for multi-source brightening
  • Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract — calms redness and provides brightening through glabridin; particularly effective for post-inflammatory redness alongside the azelaic acid
  • Pistacia Lentiscus (Mastic) Gum Oil (MASQ-tech™) — Lira Clinical's exclusive complex; prevents post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation by inhibiting melanogenesis; anti-inflammatory and pore-refining

PRO Lite vs PRO Brite-Plus — which one do you need?

PRO Lite Serum

Mild to moderate hyperpigmentation, PIH, PIE, rosacea, uneven tone. The everyday brightening serum — suitable for all skin types including sensitive. Starting point for most clients.

PRO Brite-Plus Serum

Stubborn, significant, or deep hyperpigmentation that hasn't responded to standard brightening serums. More intensive formula for clients who need heavier correction. Text Jasmine to confirm which is right for your skin.

Complete your routine

  • Cleanse first with: Face Reality Barrier Balance Creamy Cleanser or Lira Clinical BIO Enzyme Cleanser.
  • Apply this serum: 1-2 pumps, massage in, allow to absorb before moisturizing
  • Seal with: Lira Clinical BIO Lift Creme, Lira Clinical BIO Caviar Creme, or Face Reality Clearaderma depending on skin type
  • For acne + PIH: Pair with Face Reality Salicylic+ Serum on alternating evenings — the Salicylic+ clears active breakouts, PRO Lite fades what they leave behind
  • Mask boost: Use Face Reality Brighten-C Mask once a week on the same evening as PRO Lite for concentrated brightening — freshly applied serum skin absorbs the mask more effectively
  • Pre-peel prep: Use PRO Lite for 4-6 weeks before any professional peel treatment for significantly accelerated and deeper results
  • Always finish AM with: Lira Clinical SPF EliōDrops 30 or Face Reality powerMineral SPF 50 — brightening serums are completely undone by daily UV exposure without SPF

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between PIH and PIE and does this treat both?

PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) is the brown or dark discoloration left after a breakout or skin injury — caused by excess melanin production triggered by inflammation. PIE (post-inflammatory erythema) is the pink or red discoloration that lingers after a breakout — caused by dilated blood vessels and vascular damage. Most brightening serums only target PIH. The PRO Lite Serum addresses both — the tyrosinase inhibitors (arbutin, hexylresorcinol, kojic) target PIH, while the azelaic acid and anti-inflammatory complex specifically target the redness and vascular component of PIE. This dual action is what makes it effective for clients whose marks are reddish rather than brown.

Why does this serum have so many brightening ingredients — isn't one or two enough?

Melanin production is a multi-step process with multiple enzymes and signaling pathways. A single tyrosinase inhibitor blocks one step — the other steps continue. Using multiple brightening actives that work on different mechanisms simultaneously is what produces results in cases where single-ingredient serums have failed. Hexylresorcinol and arbutin both inhibit tyrosinase but via different mechanisms. Azelaic acid targets a different enzyme entirely. Vitamin C addresses oxidative stress that drives melanin overproduction. MASQ-tech™ works at the gene expression level. Each ingredient contributes something the others can't — this is the science behind why multi-pathway brightening outperforms single-ingredient approaches.

Is this safe for deeper skin tones prone to hyperpigmentation?

Yes — and it's one of my top recommendations specifically for melanin-rich skin. The brightening actives in this formula — particularly arbutin, azelaic acid, and hexylresorcinol — are considered among the safest for deeper skin tones because they don't carry the risk of paradoxical lightening or irritation-triggered hyperpigmentation that some ingredients do. The anti-inflammatory properties of the azelaic acid and licorice root also reduce the inflammation that is a primary driver of hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones.

How long before I see results?

Post-acne marks and PIE typically begin responding within 6-8 weeks of consistent daily use. Deeper PIH and sun spots take 10-14 weeks. The honest answer is that hyperpigmentation forms slowly and fades slowly — but consistently. The two factors that determine everything are daily SPF compliance (non-negotiable — UV undoes every day of brightening serum work) and consistency of application. Clients who use it every day with SPF see results. Clients who skip days and skip SPF don't.
