  • Bleaching hazard: Benzoyl peroxide will permanently bleach and stain fabric, towels, sheets, and clothing. Always use white towels when drying your face and body, and switch to white pillowcases while using this product. Allow skin to dry completely before dressing or getting into bed.
  • Sun sensitivity: Benzoyl peroxide increases your skin's sensitivity to the sun. Daily SPF 30 is mandatory — apply every morning without exception. Reapply every 2 hours if spending time outdoors.
  • Application reminder: Do not apply creams or lotions over Acne Med — this interferes with the benzoyl peroxide. Use a gel moisturizer such as Face Reality Hydrabalance or HydraRemedy before instead.
  • If irritation develops: Discontinue use immediately and contact your Face Reality Acne Specialist.

Apply a thin, even layer to clean dry skin in the evening only as directed during your consultation. Allow to fully absorb before applying Face Reality Hydrabalance gel moisturizer. Do not use creams or lotions over this product. Build frequency gradually — never increase on your own timeline. Always follow with SPF 50 in the morning. Use white pillowcases and towels.

Should I start with 10% if my acne is severe?

No — and this is one of the most important things I tell new clients. Starting at 10% will almost certainly cause significant irritation, barrier disruption, and may temporarily worsen your skin. Severe acne does not require starting at the highest concentration — it requires a well-structured protocol that builds up correctly. I always start clients at 2.5% regardless of severity and move up based on their skin's response. Rushing to 10% sets you back, not forward.

How do I know if I'm ready to move up to 10%?

I make this call with my clients directly based on how their skin has responded at lower strengths over time. Signs that you may be ready: you've been using 5% consistently for 6-8 weeks with no irritation, you're seeing good but not complete clearing, and your skin barrier is healthy and tolerating your full protocol. Text me — I'd rather guide you through this transition than have you guess. Moving up too fast is one of the most common protocol mistakes I see.

Why does this formula have sodium hyaluronate at 10% concentration?

Because at 10% benzoyl peroxide the risk of barrier disruption and dryness is significantly higher than at lower concentrations. The sodium hyaluronate actively counteracts that by drawing moisture into the skin during treatment. Most 10% BP products on the market have no barrier support in the base — they're just acid in a simple gel. Can I use 10% every day?

Only as directed during your consultation. I typically start clients on 3 nights per week, then every other night, then nightly — over several weeks. Never increase frequency on your own timeline. If at any point you experience significant dryness, redness, or irritation, reduce frequency immediately and text me. Clear skin is the goal — not the fastest possible introduction of the highest possible concentration.
