How to use
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin as directed during your consultation — typically in the evening to start. Allow to fully absorb before applying moisturizer. Introduce gradually and always follow with SPF 50 in the morning. Do not use on the same night as other acid exfoliants unless directed.

Frequently asked questions
What makes this different from drugstore salicylic acid products?
Three things: pH, penetration, and multi-action ingredients. Professional salicylic acid must be formulated at a low enough pH (typically below 4) to be active in the pore. Many drugstore products are at an ineffective pH or too low a concentration to produce real results. This formula adds dimethyl isosorbide as a penetration enhancer and potassium azeloyl diglycinate for simultaneous hyperpigmentation treatment — neither of which you'll find in a drugstore acne product.
Why does this contain lactic acid as well as salicylic acid?
Salicylic acid works inside the pore — it's oil-soluble so it can penetrate sebum. Lactic acid works on the skin's surface — it's water-soluble and exfoliates dead skin cells that can trap oil and bacteria. Together they clear from two directions simultaneously. The L-form lactic acid in this formula is also particularly effective at fading the post-acne dark marks that salicylic acid alone doesn't address.
Can I use this if my acne is hormonal?
Yes — salicylic acid addresses the symptoms of hormonal acne (excess oil, clogged pores, inflammation) even though it doesn't treat the hormonal root cause. For clients with hormonal acne I use this alongside dietary and lifestyle recommendations as part of a comprehensive approach. The pore-clearing action alone makes a significant difference in how hormonal breakouts look and heal.
Will this dry out my skin?
Not when introduced correctly. The potassium azeloyl diglycinate and lactic acid help offset the potential drying effect of salicylic acid, and the butylene glycol adds humectant hydration. Start with evenings only as directed during your consultation, and always follow with your Clearaderma or Barrier Care moisturizer. Gradual introduction prevents the dryness and irritation that comes from jumping straight to twice-daily use.
